›› Welcome

Welcome to the Osler project. Osler is a freely downloadable, totally open source solution to all your residency and fellowship information management needs. This project is still in its infancy, but is based on solid technology that has been in use for more than five years at one of the largest Internal Medicine residency programs in the country. Osler's predecessor has effectively tracked more than 40,000 evaluations and 28,000 procedures in that time, with over 1400 users of the system.

"...Before we found Osler, we were spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to keep up with our residents... Now we're ahead of the game, and its all free!..." --SDH*

The Problem

Graduate Medical Education is changing. It is getting ever more complicated to track the progress of trainees, and the ACGME is adding new regulations every day. From 360°, competency based evaluations, to duty-hours restrictions, to procedure and case-load requirements, the information management needs of residency and fellowship programs is growing exponentially, and technology has hardly had a chance to catch up.

The Solution

Osler was born out of the frustration with existing solutions -- both paper and electronic -- and a vision of a more efficient and cost-effective solution to tracking graduate medical trainees. Osler is a totally web-based, GME management tool, built by a physician programmer with the input of more than 50 years of residency administration experience. It is remarkably easy-to-use on the front end for residents, fellows and their attendings, and it is incredibly powerful behind-the-scenes allowing you to automate most of the workflow and documentation needed to run a modern day residency program.
